Its good you ttried, toughtquestion. Hepatic bile secretion is equivalent to the concentration of bile salts in the portal vein .I made the question up myself so it was not written as well as a kaplan or UW Q but the source is kaplans Med essentials which clealy states this Fact.

I think you mean inversely proportional to portal vein bile salt concentration, don't you? It's a feedback inhibition mechanism that inhibits the initial reaction catalysed by 7-a-hydroxylase in the metabolism of cholesterol.

Hepatic bile salt secretion is directly proportional to hepaitic portal vein concentration (kaplan NOtes, MED essentials too)
