I plan to change from my H1B to J1 to do my residency

I want to do it wthin US

can anybody tell me how to transfer to J1 within US

how long will it take

Sumit Change of status Form, I-539 to USCIS.

you will need to download and fill out form I-539 from www.uscis.gov website, and enclose all supporting documents requested with it. Do read the instructions. It will have the address to mail it to.

You will need to apply at least 3-4 months in advance.

Hai,

You can easily convert h1b to j1. Suppose you have a j1 visa , then after 2 to 3 years you may convert it into j1 visa by consulting an immigrtion lawyer.
