before visa extension keep these in Mind 1. DONOT apply before 3 months of enetering USA, it gives an impression that you didn't have travel intention. Maximum extension is 6 months. 2. Apply 4 weeks before I-94 stay expires. 3. You have to give a convincing reason for visa extension, not that you still want to travel accross the country. A friend of mine had to finish a few interviews for residency so he gave that reason & he successfully got the extension. 4. you require Form I 539 + 200$ fee(spouse is included in the charge), Copy of I94, Financial documents + Air tickets of return + written application stating the reason of extension.

if your extension is rejected, you have to leave US immediately as you get out of status. immediately, if you had multiple entry visa it gets void now under section 222(g)& you would have to re-apply all over again. if your extension is denied submit following documents to UCIS after you exit the country on extension denial 1. Denial Letter 2. Boarding pass 3. copy of passport 4. letter saying the time you overstayed cos you were awaiting decision on extension application. carry all these documents next time you visit US again.
