I am a fresh passout IMG from india and wish to target residency in 08 (internal medicine). Is there a realistic plan possible or time is too short.
In other words would 2and half months for step 1, 1 and half for ck and 1 month for cs suffice?
I guess i need to do it this way to get ECFMG by september or so?
Is it a realistic plan?

time is too short, buddy...u need not give 1 month for CS, 15 days are enough usually...but, give at least 4 months to step1, n 2 and a half for step2..that's what i feel..gl

so if i give 3 and half months for step 1, 2 for ck and 20 days for cs my results wil be out by august end. can i still make it to 08 residency. whats the latest month /date after which i can still make to 08.

u should have your ecfmg certificate with you before applying for residency programs thru eras and this usually begins by july 1st..u must fill ur application by 1st ek of sept..so plan it accordingly... but i will say that you have very less time... All the best !!

I'll tell you what i did...
2 months for Step 1
1 month for Step 2 CK
5 days for CS
Step 1 - 90
Step 2 - 83 (screwed up)
CS result - not yet out.
I did this to try and make it to the 2007 Match. But visitor visa rejection put me off schedule by 2 months and screwed my case. I do hope to clear CS though.
I opted for a short time as I considered myself as a pretty good student. However... I think for Step 2, my prep was pathetic.
All in all, you must finish off step 1 and 2 CK by end of july and CS by end of august.

plans changed. i am targetting 09. joined kaplan too. may be i will do a job next year from feb onwards after cs

where r u doing kaplan? me in bombay. and i think i have taken a nice decision. i might just have screwed up my scores if i would ahve thought of 08 and done everything hurriedly

hello underscore, i too wanted to join kaplan mumbai.
wats the fee structure?and is it the place centre in india.? and any statistics about how many from there make it to residency? and when s the next batch starting? i am finishing my internship in may.

theres no batch structure as such. you may join anytime when a new subject begins, i.e. some day every week. Subjects run cyclically one after other each going on for a week or a week and half approx.
Morning batches are from 8-3(2months) and evening 4-8 (2 months 20 days).
They take aroud 75k each for step 1 and 2.
i dont know the exact amount as i had joined during a scheme the had in january but its over now.
though people manage without kaplan too, joining kaplan does help a lot. i persoanlly feel its helping me
