Well long ago in med school I started this trend of making notes. I found that I grasped things faster when I made notes then just reading aimlessly. I think I suffer from mild ADHD and I need to make my studies goal oriented so as to not lose my focus....lol......Making notes sets me some goals that help me achieve my time table more efficiently.....well you know how a handicap can make you resourceful....While I was reading the Kaplan's books I also kept the new Davidson's textbook open in front of me to make sure everything in Kaplan was uptodate....to my satisfaction I stopped using the Davidsons because the Kaplan's basically covered everything in great detail and everything was current.....

Thanks for the wishes doctor 75......actually I have no clue HOW i ahve done cause am still waiting for the results. Actually what I said in my post was that the exam was not a bouncer like I thought it would be. I mean the questions were mostly straightforward or at least they should have been to many people who have decently studied. There were a few where I had NO CLUE but then that is asking for too much to know every question on the test. Anwyays it does not NECESSARILY mean I HAVE DONE WELL...lol....just that its doable by most people around here....the questions were MUCH MUCH EASIER that NBME and UW....but more difficult than KAPLAN. I dunno if specifically some topics on UW helped but mostly the whole UW experience sort of braces and builds you up to be tougher in your principles than you actually need to be....which is actually a great thing. If you go into an exam prepared for the worst then maybe you do better...???!!.....WELL lets see I havent got my score yet and I have started a topic bigger than the 911 commission report.......LOL....

I read the review for Boards and wards on amazon, one review says this book has lots of mistakes. How do you feel about it? Thanks.

If I knew so much medicine that I could take out mistakes in a review book then I would not be studying like a pig for this exam...LOL......not but seriously the reviews can be true and yeah there could be some mistakes but does it really matter if two things out of a 300 page book are wrong??? I am sure FA, Kaplan and all such rapid review books have some mistakes.....but that will not affect you exam results I am sure. Finally its your decision but personally i prefer reading a book I AM comfortable with reading and an easy read ....may not be the most accurate (that would be Davidson's or Cecils....but good luck trying to study for Step 2 with those tomes....).......thats my opinion....YOU DONT NEED TO KNOW ENTIRE MEDICINE FOR STEP 2....just the principles.....

Got my scores today .... 224 - 91......not great but good enuf and considering NBME predicted my score to be around 180 TWICE......it was a great relief.....I would still say trust NBME but if for some reason you do not do well DONT BE DISHEARTENED. NBME is not the end all be all......its remember just a TOOL....! Not surprisingly my weakest performance was in Psychiatry.....gawd I hate that subject.....its almost like a quack science.....no friggin answer is good enuf. Surprisingly though I did pretty well in Neurology and Gyn Obs which were my weakest subjects....lol.....goes to show that last minute study does help most times..! Got my shining new ECFMG certificate today......cannot believe that its mine and its done. Hallelujeha....

Thanks a ton Sarika, Dr. Shailu, Robin and Cocacola and Npas......hopefully I match this year itself....keeping my fingers crossed.... Sarika yes I did the Kaplan Qbank online version besides the UW qbank. I did Kaplan after the UW and having studied the explainationa of UW I found Kaplan to be a cakewalk most times.....scoring well above 75% on most tests so it was pretty much more like a rote pratcice rather than learning anything new. Yet I like doing questions again and again.....keeps me in the study mode....thats the reason I took kaplan. If you wanna spend money on one of the two do it for UW.....my advice. By the way I had also done 1000 questions from www.studentconsult.com/usmle so had plenty of questions practiced.....Over all I think I cleared because my exam was too easy......and thats the reason I may not have scored high. I know it sounds counterintuitive.....hope that you have a little harder exam....it helps you score more. Its the percentile stuff. On the other hand it might fail you too.....so depends on what your priority is....score or passing....I know mine was just passing....lol.....so its all good....
