Hi
I know that u need to pass step 3 in order to qualify for the H1B. My question is, " can u apply for programs which sponsor H1 B without having taken the step 3 yet, but indicating that u plan to take it before the commencement of the program which is usually in June/ july". I mean, will they even grant an interview with the assurance that U plan to clear step 3 before the program deadline OR will they not even look at ur application if u dont have step 3 scores on hand when u apply? Thanks.

Each program is going to have different requirements for Step 3 - some will want it when you apply and some will want it by a certain date (which will be different for different programs).

Again - programs will all have different deadlines - some earlier than others....

Most programs will need your step 3 score by the time the match results come out (mid march)... which means that since the score report can take up to 6 weeks they will prefer that you take the exam no latter than the last day of January...

As bbb said, it can differ but generaly that's what most programs ask for...

i am taking step 3 on 1st feb with the hope that results will be available by 15th march..

agree wit ishter.. most programs will want rsults latest by match day

not true. most of my friends gave their step 3 after they matched in april.

I think u should have results atleast my mid-may. so that u can atleast process ur H1 thru premium processing. smiling face
