1more q if any one can help,
is it that most of sign and symptoms can only be memorised without understanding.for ex
in galactose 1p uridyl transferase defeciency
i understood why they get cataract because of accumulation of galactitol
in lens
but how to remember other symptoms like jaundice, hyperbilrubinemia, lethargy, hypotonia and all ,shold we only memorize them

hi!!!! noyu dont nedtomemorize it....i guess its the firast time yu r going thru bchem..... with time yu willnotice taht yu know these symptoms without even revising them...... sodont worry ....just gwith ur first reading...... i have also not done bchem frmalongtime...... just remember that galactose kinase deficiency is not so severe as galaose 1 phosphate uridyl transfearase deficiency........... secondly....do go thru both alsolase B and aldose reductase enzyme def....... one is for fructose metabolism and the other is for conversion of glucose to sorbotoland galactose to galactito........ all teh bst .... bye

thank you sarfarosh for taking time.
i learnt new thing since somehow i thought both were same i did not read so carefully that in glucose to sorbital it is aldose reductase and in galaconversion of galactose to galactitol it is a aldose reductase and in conversion of fructose 1p to dhap and glyceraldehyde is aldolase b

accumulation of phosphates is always a bad thing.
so galactokinase def is not serious although cataracts are found in it.
but in gal 1p uridyltransferase there is accumulation of galactose 1 p so causes all nasty signs and symptoms.
similar is the case with Aldolase B def
