sorry, i forgot to note the age. age is the best determinant for breast Ca risk.had the patient been younger and the chances for Ca is quite remote, FNA which is least invasive or sonogram will be fine. but with this patient in her forties the risk is higher so we need to have tissue for diagnosis done by core or incisional...

yes,we do mammography first for this case, with mammographic findings we can determine the high yield area that has to be biopsied and then we have to go for incisional biopsy.

Hey but the quest asks whats the best method to CONFIRM the diagnosis..not whats first. so for confirming it should be biopsy which is best though invasive. had the quest been whats done next then it would be mammo. whats the answer sweetybokhari?

this suggests a strong suspicion for Malignancy . Diagnostics for this lady would be an FNA or an incisuonal biopsy. Given the age and hard nature of the mass and a possibility of a false negative of FNAs an incisional biopsy would be best.

In a women this age the first step is mammography checking for increase density with microcalcifications and irregular borders. Then ultrasound to distinguish solid mass from benign cyst then we do a biopsy depending on what these results tell us

Best step to confirm the diag isn't the best first step & here it is incisional breast histo. the best initial step is a mamog to check for other masses that are to small or deep to palpated
