post new challenging questions on physiology, next viewer replies and the one who replies should try to post a new question..........
any one who sees the question should take that as a challenge and if u dont know the answer, try to search the book for it or the other will answer it ...............
Question arises -
How is this a game?
What is Girls vs Boys?
actually its a game between girls and boys.....
IF A BOY ANSWERS ADD 2(+2) AND IF A GIRL REPLIES SUBTRACT 2(-2)

WE START FROM 50.
ON REACHING 100,BOYS WIN.
ON REACHING 0 ,GIRLS WIN.
rules-
dont give answers to your questions unless until the person if other sex says so......
answer your question if you find no answer in 1 day,and then post a new question.......

Really, women are simply at a disadvantage, I hope in neuro you learnt that male brain is larger. That means in we simpy have more capacity. Try as you must, being female is a lost cause in medicine.
shaking head

Besides the neurotramitter for pain is not challenging,

Substance p -slow pain
glutamate - fast pain

Add 2 for the men !!

For this game to work, shouldnt you state if your female or male ? Or maybe you should jokingly insult some of the guys so that they get involved.

OKay OKay smiling face I`m sorry ... but Kabootra .. you asked us to post challenging questions, right wink ?? .... I agree that the last question was a totally weird one ... but the Sleep/hormone Q ... that was right out of kaplan B/S book nod ... anyways, I`ll keep on posting stuff that are "really tested in USMLE" when I start doing q`s.

And guess what Kamyabi smiling face smiling face U are right !!!! The answer is C nod

From now on I`ll only try to answer smiling face, and before that ... let me explain what made me dig for these questions sticking out tongue .... I`m sorry Kabootra for posting a B/S question in this physio thread .... but I promise, this will be the last one where I`ll be using my imagination....

Q In a review class for USMLE step 1, a 2nd year male medical student said to his female colleagues, being female is a lost cause in medicine. After a few days, he is heard saying to the same group of colleagues that the best way to engage in an academic competition is to jokingly insult the competitors. What kind of defense mechanism he is supposedly using?

a) Reaction-formation
b) Acting out
c) Displacement
d) Undoing
e) Rationalization
f) Intellectualization

Disclaimer: All the characters in the question are fictional. Any similarities to actual persons is coincidental and purely unintentional.

There are two ways you can look at this question, since you so thoughtfully used my own humor against me.

1rst, Rationalization, A man who insulted women tells others that they should do the same to incite competition.

2nd, lets talk about the defense mechanism behind the question.

Passive agressive - the subconcious toll my joke has taken on your psyche has compelled you to express a passive expression of hostility.

I cannot control those who love me or hate me, irrespective of that, when I walk into a room..... they will always notice me........shocked (narcicism-feeling of entitlment)

Lol thought I would have a little fun, but really you guys might want to do what I suggest, as I'm the only man who answers. I waited yesterday to see if anyone else would get involved from the guys and well it aint happening. Funny thing is, I'm a end of second year /beg of third year student.

Clozapine , you have a great sense of humor grin

May I join this game ?
I choose d) Undoing smiling face

  #19

Umm.. I've changed my mind.
I choose rationalization

  #20

b or c raised eyebrow

  #21

You guys really want the answer !! raised eyebrow

Even though I was called 'passiva-aggressiva', +2 goes to Ancylostoma and to xcube !!

The answer is e) rationalization

It could be undoing if the 'hypothetical male student' started cheering for the female colleagues after making the former statement.

Acting out .... nope.
Displacement ... not in here.

I did to engage in academic competition. lol Side note: I was looking at this kaplan med essentials books. Looks like a great books to go over after completing a section in lecture notes. Just did GI physiology in lecture nots and now do the med essentials, quick way to review the whole thing. Will tell you guys if its worth it!!

  #23

This kaplan md essentials book is totally worth reading after doing a section in lecture notes. It adds some missing components and makes you go over important concepts one more time.
