I have just signed up for USMLEworld and I took a 50question exam just to see where I stand; my score is30%! I have just finished my first review and will start my second tomorrow and I would like to take the exam in March..What should I do with such a low score. I am terrified and don't know what to do. Thanks for your input

joking, do questions every day while doing you second revision 1 to 2 blocks , Make sure you finish kaplan q bank also. You will be fine. Just remember that usmle world is tougher the kaplan q bank.

Thanks for your input. I agree though, I need to kill myself with questions and man these questions are hard. Sometimes you may know the inormation but it's the way you go around answering. I will do qbank after I'm done since i'm doing so lousy..

What were your percent average when you guys started and how long did it take you to be in the passing range of usmle world?

I started usmle world after I was in the midlle of kaplan q ank and have always maintaing an average > 70. My cumulative right now is 75 % and I have about 44 % questions left. when I first started doing questions alon with my 1rst revision I started the kaplan q book. At that time I was averaging 55-75(I cant find the score sheet) percent for and average of 66 %(72, I found the sheet). My qbank average now is 81 % with about 25% of the questions left Remember kaplan questions are easier then usmle world. You just have to continue to try and study and you will be fine.

i am getting around 50 in UW..this is my first qbank (didn do kaplan ) but i have exam in 3 weeks sad

...do you think i can still make it for a 90+ score? any advices?

With that said ancylostoma, I have a long way to go and I don't how long it will take for me to get into the 50's at least, I hope a month and then hope to increase even more close to my exam date. Its funny because I am scoring around 50% in the Board simmulator series. THanks again..

Hey Shew.. The USMLEworld has about 1720 questions which can be done in about a month with 200 questions everyday. I don't know how long you will need to increase the socre though, which I would like to know myself. So anybody please share with us..

Now still in process of reading , will do Q may be next 2 or 3 month. Will let know if have time for UW which I plan for later after kap QB.

No problem we are all here to help one another to pass this Beast. Yeah..I started doing Board simulator during my first read read with a low score, and it gradually increased. I'm using an old edition that I got from a classmate I think (2001)..Not many people seem to be using it. It's tough like USMLEworld, but I think you have to think in a different way in USMLEworld. I'll probably stick with the usmleworld and hope to increase my score while during second reading.

Did you start with 50% score? I think that's a pretty good score cause i've read posts where people were scoring 55% on USMLEworld and end it with a 82 or something in step one so I think you're closer then you think, while i have a long way to go. I hope you to great on your boards.

I don't know if you will get in the 90+ but i'm sure you will do fine. How long did it take you to get 50% in UW?

I decided to get UW after I read all kaplan notes... and the first time I did a q set I felt dumb as hell, the questions are very tough and you find tons of info that are not in the notes... So the best advice is not to take UW as a predictive tool but as a learning one, learn the info quite well and you will be in pretty good shape to get a 90+... just keep studying till the exam day.

thank guys..well..ive done 50% of UW, and i have started with 40...i had 2 test with 65 but the rest 46-48-50-56...im taking notes for everything it seems new to me , or things i dont know...making short notes everywhere..ive redecorated my rooms walls...hopefully i will have time to do kaplan qbank too, and read FA again...and after all this effort get 90+..with GOD'S GRACE....

i did one block from kaplan qbank..pathophys...cause i was getting really nervous scoring around 50 in UW..and i got a 70....any predictions?..i know it was just one block...but it kindof gave me hope i wount fail this exam....

my scores in u world was never above 50% but i scored above 70 in the real step 1. so i think the u world questions are harder.if you can score 50%in uw, i think you can pass the exam

Hi

I have just finished my first read and doing qbank scoring around 45-50%, what do i need to do? secondly what is the right timt to start UW? I am 6 months away from exam.

If you have 6months away from your exam, I think you should read the materials over and over again especially your weak area and continue to do questions. I am not the best person to take advice from since my scores is so low, but that's what I'm doing, and I really want to take the exam in the end of march or april. We'll see how it goes and I will keep you guys posted on my progress.

my scores in UW are improvening...i got 60% for the last 2...but my overall is still 48 sad

( in the begining i did a lot of 40-42)......i have like 30% to do...do u think i still have a chance..of getting a good score..i want to do kaplan qbank next week...
