I struggled to read 20 pages when I first started preparing step 1, but after passing that test and seeing the future coming closer, I feel very motivated, plus, the time pressure is a big push too. Keep it up CKPrep and Rody, better 21 pages than nothing!

Did 20 more...it was a good mixture of CS and CK material with psychiatry being the "break" time. With the background of step1 i had a feeling that reading through the BArbara Fadem "BRS-Behavioural science" would be a good choice to support the little material given in Kaplan Psych notes...waht is your opinion?

I like the latest kaplan notes on behavioral science for step 1. I also find the material for psychiatry a little bit too general, but I think Kaplan knows their bussines and they must know what you really need for the test. I am gonna wait till I do questions on the subject to consider reviewing some other sources.

I am studying full time. I find great motivation envisioning myself starting my residency. I have a wonderful family and husband and I want to make them proud, and after all is said and done, I want to be able to enjoy with them the rewards that hard work brings along. Sometimes I just want to be lazy and watch the tube, but I look at myself and I feel guilty for wasting time, and that thinking gets me going again! It is important to have a support system to help you stay on track, so rely on those who care about you and ask them to be your cheerleaders. Hope you can keep up the efforts to take your tests this year.

You're welcome. Yesterday was snow day, my husband stayed home and I did not study. I am going to do some more questions on the material I've read so far, and I will move on to surgery tomorrow.

hi k2mle, I am trying to take advantage of the rush that you feel during those first weeks of preparation to get the first reading round done in 2 months or less. Along the way, I am using some old kaplan questions. I am planning on buying the q-bank at the end of the second round, but I have heard that usmleworld is better. Have you used usmle world? whats your opinion? Best of luck with your studies.

Alrite! here i go.... although its not a big thing but i felt its noteworthy to post that finally i completed psych and ethics today. While reading from diff materials i think High Yield Psych and Kaplan are need to be clubbed with drug section from Blue print Psych (its very little). But then its my perspective as i was not comfortable with vague info given in kaplan.... will start with surgey tomorrow... whats on your side kristinacol? Your moivational words made me to do this (though late)..

Hi CristinaCol- I just read through your journal and I find it very motivational to start studying. I'm planning on taking the Step2 CK in July and am going to start studying this week. I have a couple of questions- did you buy the kaplan books or are you using an old set? Also, are you going to read anything else like boards and wards or Crush step 2? Thanks

hello everyone, I have to confess that I have not studied a lot during the last 3 days. I spent the weekend on taxes and some home improvement, but I am back and just eager to make up for the wasted time. I have found that book of surgery mortaly boring, but easy to read. CKPrep, I am so glad that you are done with your first book, way to go! What book are you starting now? I agree, kaplan is very vague, but I am going to wait and see my performance on the test before considering going to other sources. Shagan, I am using the Kaplan notes 2005 for now, and I will get the q-bank and usmle world eventually. I will take the test around june or july like you, so we better get busy! OK, time to get started, good luck for everyone!
