john buchanan , 75 years retired army officer is brought to you for fever,by his daughter THERESA. army officer's wife stayed back home as she has her guests.on examination the retired army officer appear malnourished, disheleved and malodorous. smell of urine surrounded him.one of the lenses of his spectacles is broken. physician immeidately suspected abuse.who is the most likely abuser?

I too first thought of the wife because the closest relative is to be suspected, but well, probably for reasons mentioned by vyseerx, it probably the daughter, they havent mentioned whether the officer has a son.

you did not mention the wife's age (she can be much more younger than husband) and also if she is the primary care giver of her husband or not...so why not the abuser could not be the wife :?:

it is only natural to assume the wife of a 75 years old man would be around 70. even though she CAN be 30, whichis an exception not the RULE. that she is brought to ER by the DAUGHTER also tells that she is the primary care giver. so, she is mostlikely abuser
