Not all PDs reply to thank you emails; that does not make one unpolite... my mpression of PD was good.. infact i had a good interview with him ... he has interest in EM and my interview revolcved around my EM exp in UK... As far as the program is concerned,.. i just loved it, the people, the place, the residents... i asked the question of private patients in the interview and the intern replied very positively that it did not affect anything ... as far as the GC sponsorship is concerned, I have been told that most hospitals in Pennsylvania have started this scheme so it is not just penn hospital trying to attract IMGs.... yes they prefer UKCE... and so do quite a few places in northest now... My impression of the penn hsopital was similar to what katzung described last year. I signed prematch with them and am excited to start working there..

I read the other review on this program and I do not agree with what has been said about the PD. Someone described him as nice and humble. Well, I didn't get the same impression when I had my interview there. He didn't reply to my thank you letter which for me means he is unpolite. He seems to favor people with UK clinical experience, but somehow he doesn't manage to get the best residents in his program. I tend to agree with what has been said on scutwork about private pacients, no autonomy at all because of that...My impression on the day of the interview was that residents were just too relaxed for my taste. I couldn't see much activity on the wards and I think it is a very relaxed program, if you prefer not to work your ass too much during the residency. But the best part about this program is that the PD said that starting with this year they are going to sponsor Green Cards, which is indeed a big plus for an IMG seeking a fellowship. So, I need your opinion on that program. Again I only interviewed there, so I only have a feeling about it. Maybe I am wrong about many things, because it's quite hard to make an impression after just one day spent there.
