hi guys, I just need some advice, well briefly, when i get up in the morning and by the time I finish chores and work, it's already 12pm. I usually skip breakfeast and only have lunch, but soon after lunch I start feeling sleepy and it kills a good 2-3 hours of my studying time. and my studying hours are from 12-8:30 that I have. How can I use them wisely and not end up wasting time ? :?: :icon_sleep: [-o< :_online_:

I too generally get sleepy after lunch. So I either check the forums and stay awake trying to answer the questions that are posted or take a short nap. On the day of exam, I took a cup of coffee after lunch and did not get that fatigued grin

Some vitamins could help to stay up. Such as One a Day active and also gingeng and ginko biloba combine.

pills.com -- phentermine, 30 mg/day. It cost me about $130, and it's soooooo worth it. I study 8-10 hours a day (that's not counting study breaks and whatnot) and I'm losing weight too!

Hi,
My advise is having a good breakfast and a lighter lunch. Oh... of course, a cup of coffee.
Good luck

I jog...Not only do I not get sleepy, but it helps with my focus...esp on thoses days nothing seems to be going into my brain.

i've just started my review and like you, i find it really hard to stay awake! my goal is to have 8-10 hours of study each day so i figured that i should go out of the house and go to the public library. that way, some "temptations" at home can be avoided like t.v., food, phone, internet and of course, the bed! my schedule is basically the same as yours since i have to do some stuff at home first and then go to the gym in the morning. it really takes a lot of effort to study. we just need to focus and think of this as a "full- time" job. good luck to you!

thanks alot for all the advice. it's hard, but i'm still trying !!!

ok maybe it is quite late in the game, but I need advice on how to stay alert in the morning. I am a night person and no matter what I tried my brain hasn't been as active as during latter part of the day. I have tried coffee in morning and it works for a while, but I get very tired, nervous, and irritable.

I have tried to get about 7-7.5hrs of sleep per night but that doesn't seem hasn't helped. I would really appreciate any advice from you. I can't risk being slow in the morning and messing up on the exam!

i think pill is not a wise way to make us awake
maybe having a nap after lunch is a better choice to refresh your mind, you just try to be more focus on the subjects during the study time.

Hi Busta 9
If you are a night person, you should try study at night or in the evening. And try to rest during a day.

Hi!

Yes, that's what I have been doing: studying hard from afternoon onwards. However, my exam is coming up and I am not 100% or even close to it in the morning. Any suggestions for morning alertness and for THROUGHOUT THE DAY???? Thanks.

First-Just for the heck of it Id consider getting a medical check up since those of us in the field might neglect ourselves

2)Use the bed only for sleep
3)Study if you can in a library
4)Eat 4or 5 small portions of food
5)Use coffee tea sparingly
6)Try light exercise twotimes per day(with aerobic workout)
7)Take a baby aspirin a day,if that doesnt work ,call me in the A.M.
Hope this helps

Hi busta9,

I have the same problem....a zombie in the mornings, but sharp at night. The other day my friend calls me, and tells me that I parked my car that morning in the driving lane between the parking spaces in the parking lot...after laughing about this and of course moving the car, I realized that I had to do something about this.... The problem is that your exam is in the morning and you don't want to waste the first few blocks trying to wake up....The only thing that I could suggest is you need to train yourself....make yourself get up in the morning to go workout. I go for a jog at 7am in the cold....nothing wakes you up like cold air in your face...if you can't do that take a cold shower to shock your system ... something to get you alert....there are pills you can take, but not recommended. When is your exam?

Hi Quinn,

Thanks for your response. Working out in the morning sounds like a good idea, unfortunatley, I didn't think of this before. My exam is this Thursday...I would like to postpone it but I am so sick of studying for this. I am studied real hard now it's all up to the Man upstairs!

Hi busta9,

I totally understand how you feel about the exam......and, I have 2 months go before I give the exam. Best of wishes on the exam Thursday.

Hey just starting to study and having really hard time.

My typical day: try to get up early but stay in bed until 12-1(once in a while 3-4),eat and watch t.v. even if i don't want to with the books open(peace of mind  )then cooking and chores.at 6 go out for speed walking and some light weights.then my husband comes home(got married 8 months ago so then we usually go out or something).I bought my books last nov.But forget reading them i was too busy traveling and stuff out of my control.I started to read since the start of this week and i'm lucky if i get an hour or two.Usually after midnight when my hubby goes to sleep and even then my mind drifts continually.
I dont know what's wrong but any less then 8-10 hours of sleep and my mind gets all foggy.I try to wake up early by going to sleep early but just stare at the ceiling all night.

Hi krsma.....the best thing that works for me is music. When I'm sleepy(even after the fact that I had a good night's sleep)then I usually put my head phones on and put on some fast beat music.....after 30min.....my sleepiness goes off.
I wouldn't advice anyopne to take amphetamines as I read that they cause decreased REM sleep and REM sleep is usually important for processing of information for long term memory.
Also I would advice you to get a full night's sleep as sometimes the sleepiness in the day time could be due to inadequate night sleep or insomnia.

As for Dia Huq.....if you can't sleep at night then just study till you fall off asleep. As for doing your chores.....you may want to do chores in between you study schedule like read for 2hours and then cook.Come and read for another hour and then vacuum the floors....something like that.
