dawn is pt is hyperglycemic when he wakes up.etiology is increased GH release in the morning.to diagnose we measure glucose levels at 3 am and 7 am,both will be raised.
samogyi effect is hypoglycemia at night and hyperglycemia in the morning.etiology is increased epineohrine,NE and glucagon in the morning.for diagnosis u check glucose at 3 am and 7 am.it is low at 3 am and high at 7 am.
