If the pt says he has wife and family is it appropriate to ask about no of partners? How do I ask it?
Does anyone know how to deal a pt with cocaine poisoning?

Hi Usmle_dmc, to ur Qs:
1. Yes it´s appropiate and necessary. Are you sexually active with your wife only?, is she your only sexual partner?, do you have other sexual partners?.
2. Do you mean acute poisoning or addiction?... Ask about onset, reassons of use, amount, frequency, attemps to quit, reasons to quit, knowledge about complications, related medical problems, willingness to talk to a counseler or to go to a support group, support from your side, acknoledge how difficult it´s to quit. I think it´s similar to smoking cessation case in UW.
