Hi guys...I am happy that I got a prematch offer in Ob/Gyn but this program is not among my top3. Will it be okay if I inform my top3 about this and get a feedback from them? If so how do I do it? Will it be considered undue pressure and violation of NRMP rules? Guys....I need your help. I need to take a decision very soon.

A friend of mine did that, he mentioned his # 1 choice that he had a prematch with H1, but he also mentioned that he is greately interested in his program and he is very confused about what to do... the answer was something like that... YOU ARE A GOOD CANDIDATE, AND WE WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCKS IN YOUR DESITION.... JOHN DOE MD, PHONE # XXXXXXXX.... he decided to interpret that as interest from the program and went to the match... he matched in his # 1 choice... I think that you could inform the other programs about your offer, and see wait for their response... congratulations and good luck

So HC did you contact your top choices? if yes, how did that work out? How did you approach the contact? Were you able to get some insight into their decision about your ranking position? thanks in advance.

Hi, hookorcrook, Congratulations for your prematch!!! One of my friends had the same situation. She call the other programs she preferred. After getting some uncertain reply, she accepted the prematch. I sent you an email (PM). THanks a lot!

There is a hitch in the strategy that your friend adopted Isther. If the PD gets a hint that you may take the prematch at the other place and hence may not be a match candidate, 1- either he offers you a prematch if he likes you very much or 2- he thinks you have taken a PM other place and does not rank you at all. So if your language in the mail is ambiguous then it might boomerang on you. All the best!

How can you tell the PD who offered you a prematch that you need time to think about accepting prematch without offending the program? The program is my #3. I've yet to contact my #1 if they will surely rank me highly.
