A 23-year-old male comes with painful swollen left knee after he twisted his leg while playing football. On examination, the left knee is swollen with marked tenderness on medial side of the knee. When compared to the right knee, on valgus stressing the left knee shows exaggerated laxity at the joint line. Which of the following would help to confirm the diagnosis in this patient?

A. CT scans of knee joint.
B. Joint fluid aspiration.
C. Arthroscopy.
D. MRI of knee joint.
E. Plain radiographs of knee joint.

arthroscopy is a minimally invasive prcedure ....while MRI used ligamental injuries pretty well...

  #5

I agree with D. MRI is good for joint imaging.

medial lateral ligament probably involved, and medial meniscus as well.
How can you see medial lateral ligament well under anthroscope?
D for sure. one of the few situation where MRI is the first choice.
