I know a romanian in general surgery... but he is the only one... I have no idea where all the 23% of surgery residents from 2005 and 17% from the 2006 match are from.. 'cause they never write on forums. I have no clue why is that! Is GS so demanding that they don't have time to write a word or two? Is it that they went through a lot of shit to end there and noone helped them, so they don't wanna give an advice to anyone? WHERE IS EVERYBODY?????

thanks aazad...it's really heartening...I know a couple of Iranian attendings and very good surgeons in US but NO residends...if people have quit because of hard work there should be a very good reason,I won't judge him/her but my word is YES...with each and every cell in my body am going to apply for surgery..no matter what...!!!

There are lots of Iranian who do residency in GS. Most of them have no interest in reading forum and also do not have time to write, coz they have already passed the big gate.

Hi AAzad, Amir, thanks for the info... yes, some people say it isn't as bad as other people say in GS... I read on SDN people questioning if a 96 score was good enough for GS... well.. I was shocked. I understand that would be an average for top univ. programs, but come on.. 96? also, I saw the disturbing fact in the NRMP stats that I posted upper in this thread. A decrease of 6 percent in residency spots taken by IMGs??? uhhh! it's getting harder and harder (statistically speaking). I'm curious about this year, 'cause I guess it's getting even more competitive, now with the 80 hour rule... by the way, when was this rule applicated first? in what year? the only thing I'd like to follow by reading the GS residents' experiences would be their credentials. I want to see how "fat" has an IMG who needs visa's application should be in order to match into a GS position. and... why not, a GS university program..?
