in kaplan notes.there is one sentence,I do not understand it please explain it chronic subdural hematoma (venous bleeding ,size 7 brain in size 8 skull) so what do you think about "size 7 brain in size 8 skull ? thanks

it means chronic subdural hematoma is seen in old age when the brain has some degree of atrophy or say they shrink in size compared to skull, size 7 brain in size 8 skull...

WITH THAT DECREASE IN SIZE ,THE BRIDGING VEINS FROM THE CORTEX TO THE DURA WILL BE STRETCHED THUS BECOMEING EASLY BLEED WITH MINOR TRUMA LEADING TO MINUTE BLEEDING WHICH ENLARGES OVER TIME (CH.SUBDURAL HEMATOMA)IT OCCUR ALSO IN ALKHOLICS.
