It depends on which state you are applying for through. Connecticut, for example, only requieres the CID form.

hi! i would like to know about the application regarding step 3...do i have to apply from the state that i live in? i m in California, but i ve heard that ppl prefer to apply from connecticut. why is that? and, can i do the same , though i wish to take the test at prometric somewhere in California? what is the drawback of applying from California?

hi dr-me-myself you can put any state on your application. you can take the step3 at any test center in the US, no matter what state you are sitting for. the reason why people prefere to apply for certain states like CT is, because these states have the easiest step3 requirements. for example, some states require one year post graduste medical training (internship) for you to do step3, some states do not require that, etc. so you can sit for california, as long as you fullfill their requirements. if you don't just apply for a different state. well, this is the way i understood this whole issue. i hope my info is correct. please correct me if i was wrong. cheers
