Which enzymes are responsible for producing the direct donors of nitrogen into the pathway producing urea? A.Arginase and Arginosuccinate lyase B.Glutamate dehydrogenase and glutaminase C.AST and CPS-1

I think it is C. I recall that CPS-1 donates the first Nitrogen group from NH3. The second Nitrogen should come from aspartate being added when citrulline is converted to arginosuccinate by arginosuccinate synthatse. I would assume that an AST is used to do this. Hopefully someone can back me up or prove me wrong.

I'm going to agree with alb123. The donors of urea are CP-1 and Aspartate. Ast give glutamates amino group to Oxaloacetate forming aspartate.

aspartate and NH3 are the two donors of Nitrogen in the urea cycle.

BUt Nitrogen can also come from the action of glutaminase on glutamine in the intestinal tissues..Is it not a source??Please explain
