during the knee exam should we do drawer or lachman because both are supposed to test the same legaments ,isn't that right? and do we need to do the ligaments tests if there is no history of trauma. one more question. if we need to examine a joint first for range of motion and let's say the pt has pain during some motions, how are you going to repeat the movemnts for strength check if we can't repeat painful movements? or should we ignore strenth check in case of joint swelling or trauma? and for the range of motion should we move the joint or let the patient do it? i would really appreciate it if someone can answer all these questions. my test is in few days.

i think we dont need to do strength examination is the movement is painfull as the strength in this case will apper to be decrease due to paian so no need of doidng it.

Agree with Muzammil. I would do Drawer since it test ACL and PCL and Lachman test only ACL.
