how do we test for the optic as part of cranial nerve check, i mean this involves so many tests like visual acuity, reaction to light , visual fields, ophthalmaoscopy, should we do all this to check this nerve as part of cranial n check?

?

  #3

and how long does a complete neuro exam take you to do

  #4

I would just do reaction to light, there is no time for the others.

I´m practicing the neruo cases several times to get efficient and fast, but still I can´t get them done on timedisapproval, I think almost everyone has the same problem, so don´t panic, do your best and have in mind that maybe there will be no time for counseling for example

thanx egomez, i'm having this problem too, and i'm sure we will have a case of headache which needs a complete neuro and i don't know how to make the exam short.cranial, sensation(dull ,sharp, vibration and position), motor ,cerebellar....,which parts of the exam can i forget about in a case of headache?

  #6

i forgot the reflexes and minimental check, by the way what exactly do they mean by minmental is it just orientation to time ,person and place? .is any of: judjement, memory, abstracion involved

  #7

while doign minimental state i do oriemtationm in time person and space absraction and memory.

  #8

if the time is runnign short is it better to sacrfice a few exams or to sacrifice counselling

  #9

like in a case of head ache if time is ruunig out shud we rstrict ourself to mental status, cranual, ophthalmoscopic and reflexes and move on to couselling or we shud completre exam and cut short the counselling?

  #10

I would say that never sacrifice a whole section. Cut down a little on all if you dont have time .... that seems safe.

  #11

I was reading that it's more important to do the conclusion/counselling than to do a complete neuro exam/physical.
