A 3-year-old African-American male child is brought to the emergency room with a chief complaint of stridor of sudden onset. The child was apparently normal until last night when he suddenly developed a high fever followed by breathing difficulty. On examination you find a toxic child sitting up, leaning forward and drooling. His vitals are, Temperature: 40C(104F); PR: 130/min; RR: 40/min. Oxygen saturation is 85% in room air. His lungs are clear. What is the next best step in management of this patient?


A. Admit the patient and start on broad spectrum antibiotics
B. Endotracheal intubation in the mergency room
