I was just wondering if someone could help me out! On the CSA, if the diagnoses seems to be something like depression or spousal abuse, what are we suppose to put for the diagnostic tests? We aren't allowed to put meds, referrals or counseling. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

generally, an abuse case will involve injuries, bruises, and such... X-rays may seem appropriate if there is a lesion. In cases of a battered patient, remember to rule out subdural hemathoma by screening for symptoms and perhaps ordering a head CT scan. It´s common to find eye ecchymoses. Facial bone fractures should be ruled out, and in addition to a thourough palpation of the facial bones you should order head XR. If there is any signs of bleeding a CBC would be adequate. If blunt trauma to the abdomen is presented, you´ll need to rule out internal organ damage by abdominal U/S or a DPL. If there is any clue of sexual abuse, a pelvic exam and screening for STD (Hepatitis, HIV, GC, chlamydia) or pregnancy (serum or urine bhCG)also sounds appropriate. In cases of deppresion you might want to order B12 levels, TSH and T4.
