Hi, My Company is applying L1A Blanket for me. My interview date is by January at Chennai(India) Consulate. Iam planning to apply L2 for my husband. But our marriage is after 4 months. We are planning to register our marriage before January. Is marriage certificate alone enough to obtain L2 Visa or marriage photos are a must. If marriage photos are must, then should we postpone our L2 Visa stamping after april. Please Advise. Thanks in Advance

All you need is an official marriage certificate. I never heard of a request for photos... Make sure that your marriage licence/certificate is available in English (OFFICIAL TRANSLATION!!!!) that's it. Your husband will be able to get an EAD after getting the L-2 which is great if he wants to apply for residency. Good Luck! And of course congratulations on your marriage!!! Mufurc

Thanks a lot for the response. The information given in the website of US Consulate says that marriage photos are required http://chennai.usconsulate.gov/dependent_visas_h4... What if someone doesnt follow any marriage rituals and gets only registered. In that case photos are not possible. Please Advice

OK Kartick, I am sorry. You might be right, I don't the answer. I am on an L-2 and I did not have to present a marriage photo, only the marriage certificate... It is also true that I got married here in the States and I am originally from Europe so the customs in India or the requirements for Indian citizens might be different. I am really sorry that I can't be more helpful. You might need to call the embassy to clarify the situation. I hope you can solve this issue. Best of luck! Mufurc
