Hi,Iam new to the forum just decided to take the exam somehow....though i dont know what can i do to start studying.Iam a mother of a very active 2.5 years old boy who doesnt want me to open the book ......previously i tried many times to start studying but cudnt, now iam planning again and expecting another baby soon....in between work/my little boy and my always busy husband i have no idea what can i do.please anyone there who could give a little advice + support ........write to me give me some motivation and also suggest what to study and how.....what subjects should i cover first and how many revisions( i was an average student) etc etc...in addition what books should i go for.i have a set of books from 2002 ,should i purchase new er ones now.i plan to take the exam by the end of 2007or early 2008.
i asked someone with a very good score and he sugested these books , that look like very difficult to cover, for me...but i want good score in first attempt.
please advice are these fine or should i go for something else , any addittions to this ?

hi friend,i think ur study plan is perfect...i m mom like u but make some plan which is according to u not other like wt time is ur kid nap etc...like i wake up early morning ...5 or sometime 6 am ..i know ur sitution need more time ...but start now make some TIME TABLE...
ORGANIZED UR STUFF..
WHICH SUBJECT U LIKE START WITH THAT
FINISED EARLIER FEEL GOOD..BY THE TIME IN SPEED....
EAT GOOD FOOD ..
DONT BE STRESS U CAN DO IT WE ALL CAN DO IT.
I KNOW ONE OF MY FRIEND WITH 2 KIDS...SHE PASSED..both steps in worse sitution.withput any help .SO JUST TAKE UR TIME...

hi Faiza,
the fact that you started writing this journal, is a good start in itself.
just concentrate on your aim put in your best possible and God will do the rest.
I have started my prep for step 1 in dec and would like to correspond with you on a regular basis.
I am an IMG passed out in 1991. So you see each one of us have their unique set of obstacles which we have to overcome.
I am reading anatomy from textbook RSSnell. I do a few mcqs from Qbook. I am waiting for my kaplans LN and Qbank. I will be shortly subscribing for usmleworld and in case you could buy usmlerx we could share. I am based in Ireland so time will not be a problem.
Like you I plan to take the exam in 2008 jan; I plan to finish anatomy by jan end and will then start with biochem or physiology.
