A program was on probation but now it received full accreditation from the Residency Review Committee. What does this mean, bbb, apurva or anyone plz explain.

  #2

Full Accreditation is what all the programs have that we are applying to. No more worries, its ACGME accredited.

  #3

Correct - full accreditation means that it has fixed the problems that put it on probation.

Robin 082006 - that would be 3558 applications and of 12/19 (December 19) I am still sending out invites to interview. We've selected over 400 to interview, and invites have gone to most of them.

whom are all applying to 40+ places which give them 40X 10-15= 400-600 places

still tough but many programs ahave much less candidate

And why on earth bbb you interview 400 people. how could you even remember who said what. I say stop that. you are costing each of these guys 200 - 400 $ of travel and hotel stay and you know that the majority of those didn't have a chance in the first place

I went only to 3 interviews and they costed me more than 800$

and one more note I paid 800$ to go even though 2 of them paid for the hotel. it was 370 for round airfare x 2 plus the bus fare for the 3rd. not counting that I had to spend an additional night on my account in one hotel.

and for the record the program I prematched at not only paid for the hotel but also for an expensive dinner with the residents. they only invited about 10 people for 3-4 position. and that is a university affiliated program which quite good.

We INVITE that many. Many of the invited ones never answer us back. As of today we have about 250 interviews scheduled. Man, 400 interviews would send me straight to the looney bin. Wouldn't even need a physician report to be placed in our local mental health facility.

I do have a question about Probation. If a program is currently on probation does this mean it is not accredeted. and what happen if it was cancelled. does the time you spent their while they are on probation count or you lost it or what
thank you

Check the ACGME web site for the program to ensure that your program is accredited. They have the most current and accurate information.

the PD has told us that the program was accreditied before. it went thorugh some trouble that led to it being put on preobation but he explained that all the trouble was fixed and that as soon as the probation period ends the program will be fully accredetid for five years. also in the letter offering me the position they said that they offer me the position in the accredited residency program. since I will start working with the program under probation what is going to happen if the program was denied accredtion.
