hi sandra I think if you can get LOR's from any MD with whom you have worked in past,it will be sufficient....better try getting LOR from an American Doc if you are an IMG. My case and my friends case is totally different...we have our HOD sitting on his chair still but refusing to give out LOR's just because many of my batchmates never did their internship under him...His Ego is too too big So dont worry and plough ahead with LOR's from some quality docs...Good Luck for Match and Residency

Hi Sandra and others Research jobs are time commitment of at least 6 months You can look at the academic institutions in your area. Go to their webpage and look at the ongoing research. Prepare a resume with detailed explanation of research experience if you have any. Then email those to professors/clinicians doing the research Ask their time to meet and explore possible volunteer opportunities. Few of them would be willing... Good luck. (I have a PhD and presently work as post-doc fellow)

hi sandra Regarding list pf PD's of your area you can visit the FREIDA website(AMA's website) at http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/2997.htm... .All the Programs of US is listed here alongwith their PD's addresses.MPH is a 2 year course and an IMG has to pass GRE+TOEFL then apply to various univ.So its a quite long bet.If you r a US resident then I dont have any idea about the process one has to go through to apply for MPH. You can chek for Programs in your area and apply for observership or if not possible then you can do an observership with a General Practioner also,it will also count. But doing in a hospital is better. But in end something is better than nothing. Hope it helps. Thanks Sachida for your advise...if you have any idea then can you pls let me know which of the uni's can sponsor a J1 Visa for an IMG for research. As reaching US is also a big headache. Will be grateful for any help. Thanks
