I am so so happy, just got my score in the mail.Had my exam on the 27th, i am really excited.This exam is doable guys,wish every1 all the best.I was so fortunate to have discovered this forum, it gave me alot of encouragement n advice i needed for the exam.
I will just give a abit of my preparation experience
exam date nov27
score report dec 20
received dec 22
usmleworld score 63% started with 50s, to 60s then 70s and occasional 80s. I did this all in tutor mode, i used it as a learning tool
kaplan qbank-after usmleworld 75%[timed mode]
NBME 2 660,250 ...quite accurate
most of my prep was usmle world and qbank.
read kaplan notes once and made references thereafter
last few days , i used crush,step 2 secrets n first aid
I must say the exam was quite tough, i was so worried after the exam
alot of vague questions.I thank Almighty Allah for crowning my efforts with success.
So now its step1 all the way[step2 was my 1st exam]
so u guys , give this exam your all and do as many questions as possible.Its really doable.I wish every one all the best.

thanks vanshita,wish u all the best as well.MD cooper , i think the best advice i can give u, and any1 else is to do as many questions as possible,thats what helped me,cos most of the stuff in the books u already know, and explanations from the ques are similar to what is in kaplan.U can refer to topics in kaplan,but u dont really have to read it all[u dont have enough time for that]also make use of review books.I used crush n made references to FA.I hope this helps.

Dear kykie, Thats an amazzzing score!! many many congrats. I have my exam in March , Im doing UW right now...Can you plz tell me how u took notes from UW..I mean is it better to go back to reference boks and read from there or write down everything from Uw explainations...were u able to revise UW? also in real exam were the quest lenth like UW..and difficulty level was it like UW? Every one aims for the score u got..u are so lucky and blessed by god  congrats again that your hard work was awarded by Allah. Wish you 99 in step 1 also. If you need any advise regarding step 1 I'd be glad to provide..I did that already and scored 92.

Thanks Doc nikki.I took notes from usmleworld but honestly i wasnt able to use them.But i took question pools from the questions i did wrong, and then jotted some important notes on my computer from there,so i reviewed that.there is also a list from valuemd website,that i got somewhere on this forum,250 Rx that is a summary of usmle world and is quite good.
i didnt really go back to the books ,cos almost everything in the books is in usmle world.I also did kaplan which helped me alot,cos the explanations are great.It consolidated usmleworld for me.So just try to concentrate on ques as much as possible.The exam was not as tough as UW but the options in the exam were very vague
and the time in the exam also seems shorter.
just b sure to use the qbanks as learning tools, read both the questions u get right and wrong.It will take u alot of time,but the end justifys the means Insha Allah.Also b sure to make ur Duas to Allah to make it easy for u, cos nothin is easy except what Allah makes easy.
how many months did u use to prepare for step 1 and what materials did u use?i am ready full time.Also if u have any study schedules,i will b happy to gain from u.i started with anatomy n i am doin goljan an hour a day as well.I hope i will b ready by april,Insha Allah wishing u all the best.

For step 1 I took more than an year and studied on and off..but if done continously all time it should take 5-6 months...also that you are done with Ck it won't be hard for you as the first step taken seems more difficult and then you feel more confident for second one. ur second exam is step 1 and you will benefit alot from your ck knowledge.
regarding materials---> goljan is VERY IMP. I'd advise the goljan audio lectures as well as any book of goljan..goljan notes are very vast and dont fot in ur time frame..he has another book that I used called Goljan starts patho...some 338 pages..I found it ABSOLUTELY enough and it covered ALL path quest in the exam provided u remember the book atleast all the hy. I read the book 3 times. and listened to goljan audio along with the first reading of the book. that was very helpful. 75% of the exam is patho so do that very nicely. next I would stress on physio...I did that from kaplan book. I will suggest you to use one book for every subj..like if u use goljan for path dont touch kaplan..its rubbish as far as path is concerned. for physio it was good....I also did physio q bank quest for importnat systems like CVS, ENdo, Renal and Resp.
then Biochem..I did that from lippincott..the book is beautiful and covers alot of cell bio as well thats tested alot in exam. Cell bio quest are doable only if you have read and know the minute details..receptors are very imp also protoncogenes and genetics...again I didnt read kaplan for biochem...for cell bio i will recommend HY cell bio book...u can do that in 3 days..do it 3-4 times to remember it nicely. then anat I did from Hy anat book..its not much tested..so I didnt bother to work hard on this subj..nerve injuries of upper limb and lower limb are imp...Neuro anat is very very imp..most anat uest are from this section..Idid that from both HY and kaplan..if u can do both it'll be great...both compensate each other.
Micro---MMRS..I had difficulty memorizing this subj so chose this book..easy to understand and along with Fa it is Enough for exam.
Phramac..FA and katzung just for reference..otherwise FA is absolutely enough believe me.
Behav and biostat also I did fom HY.
I did kaplan Q bank twice and reviwed my FA 3 times.
thats all..the exam is very basic..Im sure you'll ace in that. wish you 99 in that too.

HI CONGRATZ FOR HAVING SUCH A GREAT SCORE.i AM PREPARING FOR STEP2 AND MY SCHEDULE ALMOST MATCHES URZ.i HAVE DONE KAPLAN DVDZ AND LEACTURES ONCE AND DONT HV TIME TO REVISE THEM.i HAVE STARTED uw AND AM DOING IT FULL TIME.cAN U PLZ TELL ME THE AMOUNT OF TIME U TOOK TO DO uw AND THEN qBANK..?

Hey kykie, congratulations on ur achievement....So one quick question....What did u mean by using kaplan as refernce only...and also u made refernces in FA from secrets..could u plzz elaborate a bit..it shall be helpful...good luck.
