Dear Friends,

I have my step 1 score..just 205/83...

It's really low and
Some say residency prg. rely on ONLY step 1 scores and not on Step 2 in Match process. Some others say that they are more dependent on INterview, LOR's Clinical Experience.

I apprciate if you will advise a little about what should I do now and frankly let me know prospects for Internal medicine prg.?
Is it possible for me to get a match for IM anywhere in US.

What factors prg. directors consider for IM progarms?

I am also an IMG , should that weaken my situation even further

Please reply (plz be frank and say whole truth and no consolations) and thankful to me.

Thnx

Sim

83 is not the end of the world.....ace the rest of the tests, get research experience WITH PUBLICATIONS (you will be very lucky if you get paid doing those), get some Observerships (not paid!) in the field you desire and you will do fine getting interviews.....

The second big step is to ace the interview but that is another topic and I don't think you should worry about that at this moment.

Good luck

PD's rely on Step 1 scores if they have no other chocie- meaning no other scores, no LOR's, evidence of research experience, etc.
Many US grads have step1 score only when applying, maybe that's where you've got the opinion from.
It's the whole package that matters. Cheer up!grin
