Hello friends!!!
I would be thankful if anyone answers me this quiery. Do we need to contact ECFMG directly or an attorney to file for J1 visa? Is J1 visa given for 3 years or for 1 year and then renew again as in case of H1B? Thank you.

you will need to complete the paper work in terms of statement of need and certified copies of your diploma and then complete the application forms on ECFMG website under the link of Exhange visitor visa.... once you send all the paperwork.. ECFMG will process documnets and send a letter which you can use along with contract to apply for J1 visa in your countyr.
J1 is renewed every year in most instances.... you can find all info at ECFMG website.
