hello everyone. I've been a quiet reader of this very helpfull forum. I thought I give back so others can be helped like me.

first of all , please test your self with NBME forms. very important.

I passed with a 191/78. I'm happy with my score and my wife is loving it too. Thank God, I passed.

what I used to study and practice:

kaplan live prep & videos.
kaplan books & qbook (vry hlpfl) ; didn't do the qbank.
robbins pathology text book.
katzung pharmacology review.
some NMS books and rapid review books.
first aid , read many times. inside out.
goljan notes & tapes. nice..
NMS qs, lang/lippincott qs
UW. avg 51%

The beast is dead, and I am free of it. it was a lot of stress studying for it.
I wish you all the best . Stay in there and keep trying. you will get to the end of this dark tunnel and one day see the light. Do Not Give up. I never thought I could do it , but God is great and he helped me through.

hope this helps.
bye, and the best of luck to all of you.

Congrats on passing!! great job! Can you plz tell me what your nbme score is..I wanted to see how close it correlates to the exam and which form is the best to take that correlates to the exam? If you could let me know I would really appreciate it..thanx!

hello usmle4life.
sorry i forgot to add that..opps

the forms 2 & 4 are in my experience the closest. ppl usually score lowest in form 3 generally speaking.
form 1 is too easy and a bad predictor to go and take the exam based on it's score alone.

i was getting 77 & 78 in forms 2 & 4 respectively

I gave it another month of craming and took the exam with a 191/78 as i mentioned above.

good luck..hope this helps.

I don't know how this information can help anyone towards their step 1 studies but here it goes.

first of all thank you inkspot.
I'm not sure of what residency yet, may be ER or IM. it has to be sorted out yet.

I studied for about a year and a half inkspot. I know, that's a long time, ppl are posting here 6 monts of study and 88s & 90 score. more power to them.
I didn't really have much guidance in the begining and i didn't find out about this forum and the NBME material and some other good resourses till way later into my study. I can honestly say thou that serious study was for the last 5-6 months before the exam when my score jumped from 68 to 78 all in NBME forms.

good luck.

usmle4life: scores of 77 & 78 are roughly around 187 & 190 on the NBME scale.
visit NBME.org
well, I got a repeated 400 in two different forms which is around 190 - 192 or 77- 78, and that is what i ended up getting.
you should offcourse shoot for higher, it is true that one should be getting in the 430- 450 to pass comfortably. Don't do what i did , it was a risky thing but i passed. I did study hard in the last month that must have saved me. 400 is still too close to failing and you don't wanna risk it.

there are other links in this forum that you should explore in detail to understand score correlations, like the one that's titled "Score correlations"

anyways, good luck and study hard.
