Connections might be important but it is not the only thing. Your motivation and the way you express yourself are also important If you have previous experience, that would be helpful. find your research interests and what you want to do and go talk to people who shares the same interest or look at job postings. Good luck

It depends your boss, s/he can get you J1 or H1. If they really need you they might get you H1 which is better. Are you in USA? If so, it will be easier for you to contact with them, you can make an appointment and go talk to them.

well no I'm not in US .but am considering my USCE in research since I have good experience in research in my home country.I came across a web site that sbd posted somewhere it's really interesting why don't you take a look: ikenga.com (for M.J) sth else is it going to cost them cash to get these visas?I mean the employers... and how valuable would this research be?I've been looking through some hospital requirements ,most of them have written on hand experience, which includes practically treatment and patient care...how possible are these to get as an IMG??

If they want to get H1 and want it fast, they have to pay something for the process. (around 1000$) . As far as I know J1 does not cost them anything. If you have papers especially in good journals, I was told it is valuable in match. It is very hard here to get hand on exp. without residency position and licence. I do not know how people do here, you should look in other forum topics. Ikenga.com seems interesting. You can also look at the universities' websites.

Try Cleveland Clinic in Celevand and Florida. Say you wanna do volunteer research job for a year or whatsoever. You have to provide some proofs of your financial standing, that will support you for a year. Cleveland is not an expensive city. I think $20,000 is enough.
