hello everyone,

i am preparing for my step 2ck, and everything is going well, i just can not seem to be able to finish doing the questions on time. though i make sure that i have enough sleep, and i am in a quite environment i can not seem to be able to keep my concentration on the question sometimes. Moreover i have noticed that the more questions i add to a block, the more questions i end up not doing on time.

i keep pushing my self, but nothing seems to work. i tried to read the last 2 lines, and that does help, but not enough to finish on time. i tried to read, and stop at every full stop to try to paraphrase what i just read, and i tried to read as fast as i can but nothing seems to work. i do not reread a questions very often and i try to push my self to just make a choice and move on, but it is still not enough to finish on time!

the hardest part about all this is when i review the questions, i often find that i missed some questions because i overlooked some info here or there.

please if anyone has any advice, then i would be very thankful if you would help.

thanks to everyone,

amer

This is a problem for all of us.

Old test takers advise that:

1. Read qs quickly,

2. Skip normal values (just stare rapidly at them)

3. Step 2 qs give lots of distracters, think about the disease the question mentions after reading 3-4 lines, and look for findings relating to the disease to confirm it, this is very helpful to speed up our reading.

Good luck.

READ THE LAST LINE FIRST! THAT SEEMS TO WORK IN 20 QUESTIONS IN EACH BLOCK. i MEAN, MANY A TIMES THEY GIVE ALL KIND OF STORIES ABOUT A WOMAN WHOSE BF's NAME IS GHARRYY & HER SMOKING HABIT & HER COUGH HISTORY & HER FAMILY HISTORY & THE SECOND LAST LINE SAY SHE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH Lung CARCINOMA, 2 MONTHS BACK, & NOW WHATS THE MOST COMMON TYPE OF LUNG CANCER IN SMOKERS?
SO YOU SPEND ALMOST 45 SEC READING THE STORY & FIND OUT IN THE END THAT OHHH THE DIAGNOSIS IS ALREADY MENTIONED & THEY WASNT TIO ASK SOMETHING ELESE! MAKE IT A HABIT OF READING LAST LINE FIRST! IT WON'T HELP U IN EVERY CASE BUT WILL BE HELPFUL IN 40-50% CASES... THATS MY OBSERVATION!!!!nod

My suggestion is, if long q do what priyagrove says and read last q. If short one just proceed. Only 25% or less of q's will be 3/4 to over 1 screen page long(need to scroll) Half will be 1/2 to 3/4 page long. The rest is less than half a page. In actual exam, when encountering long q, try to have final answer for q before moving on. Harder to recheck, since more things to reread and reprocess if you go back for it.
