GH causes formation of IGF-1 at its target organ(insulin like growth factor)which then does all the physiological functions of GH.....I think another name for IGF-1 is somatomedins. However since IGF-1 mechanism is via the tyrosine kinase system(just like insulin)it should be similar to insulin.Protein Kinase A is meant for the cAMP mechanism while Protein kinase c is via the IP3 mechanism.

IGF-I and IGF-II both work via tyrosine kinase, but they are not solely responsible for GH effects. Some GH effects can be oberved in the absence of IGFs. For the test though, this distinction might not be made. Does anyone know what one of the review texts says about this?
