i wanna know the difference by simply looking at the slide, not with the help of the clinical history, cuz i might not get one in my exam

WHAT TO DO, You are right it does look confusing.....however, I highly doubt they will try to mix the two together. I mean p. bodies can be found in 4 distinct locations vs. pearls can be found @ many ohter locations. So I would go for the clues first (history). P. Bodies are usually hard dense calcifications vs. keratin pearls are rather wavy/swirled looking. Hope that helps. JACK

i got no problem with history. but i am worried if they give us a slide without clinical vignette, then u knwo , it will be a big mess. cuz the history will be ,miles apart. one is for squamous cell carcinoma and another is for paillary CA thyroid, serous cystadenoCa......

They will not give you a slide and ask you to identify it without some theory behind it.Your fear is understandable but this is a step one exam not a pathology exam. You will not be asked some thing that is beyond your scope as a second year medical student. I agree with MacTT, get your clues from the exam rather than bank on slides alone. Good luck.
