Hello friends, Been away for a while. Does anyone here have any idea about the deadline by which one should have the scores for Step 3 in hand in order to be eligible for an H1B visa? Also, are there cases of candidates who started off on an OPT and then converted to an H1B visa after an year (and completing Step 3)? I would really appreciate any insight on this. I have been freaking out lately...whatever calls I do have sponsor mostly J1. And all this talk about H1B vis a vis the J1 further freaks me out

Each program is going to be different. Bottom line is that you have to have step 3 results in your hand to apply for the visa. Some will say when they give you a contract, some will say when you submit the match list. J versus H? Depends on what you want. Good luck

Thanks BBB. I had a lengthy discussion with a resident today at one of my interview places and I might not really go in for the H1b after all. Thanks for your insightful answers.
