Dear bbb, I received following email from a program that I interviewed at 6 weeks ago. Can you explain what a faculty dinner is, it's purpose, is it a second/screening interview, what is the dress code for such an event? Is this a gathering of those they are interested in before they make the final cut or is prelude to a prematch offer? Is it appropriate for me to contact them regarding case presentation topic? Anything else that might be of help will be appreciated. Email pasted below. Thank you. ................. Dear Applicant: Please join us for dinner with xxxxxxxxxxx Faculty, Residents, and residency applicants. The dinner will take place on xxxxxxxxxxxxat Alumni Hall. This dinner will give us a chance to meet each other and talk informally about your career interests. After dinner there will be a case presentation and discussion. We hope that this presentation will acquaint you with our interests and teaching approaches. During the evening we invite you to ask our Faculty Members any questions you may have regarding our program. Please RSVP by email by filling out the form below We look forward to seeing you. Sincerely,

I was doing something yesterday called work. It's amazing how much that gets in the way of my internet time! My program doesn't do a dinner the night before. We tried - we had a less than 30% attendance for it, so we stopped. Since I don't know if they sent it to all the applicants or just the ones that they are interested in, I can't answer your questions..... Good luck.

Thanks BBB, I know, work is so inconvenient and bosses have a tendency to actually expect you to show up and perform! Sorry, I was panicking.
