I have recently got my step 2 scores and I was very numb and disturbed.I didn't do well. But a huge support system told me that I need to do well on my Step1.I think I have a problem with motivation, and concentration.I only dream but but when it comes down to the real thing, aka hard work I falter big time. I have decided to write down for all to see what I do/achieve and don't achieve.Atleast then I will know where I stand and how I am doing. So My exam is on 25th Jan. I will take it then.No change on that possible. 6th Dec: Complete reading physiology.( been reading it for last 4 days) 7th Pharmac: Basic concepts and Cardio and renal. Will start here and take it forward.

I only have Endo left in Physio. I didnt start with pharmac, instead I have started with immunology, as I know that is very high yield and there is a lot to remember.I intend reading it by tomorrow. By the way I want to add, I have done a cursory reading of all the Kaplan material once before and heard Kaplan tapes and I am done underlining and deciding what is important.

I only did 4 chapters in Immuno yesterday, instead of the 8 I had planned.I need to ruch through.I know I have studied this well before. It shouldn't take me so long. I need concentration tips.May be I should stick my step 2 scores some place.Constantly reminding myslef that I did badly in step 2 isn't helping.

New week, first four days, I plan Physiology and pharmacolgy .Lets see.

Hi Aarya, What I understand of Ganglion blockers is that they act on the Nm receptors ( receptors found on the skeletal muscle motor end plate) at cell bodies in the autonomic ganglia. Their basic function is to reduce the predominant tone. So PANS predominantly acts on the SA,AV node, pupils, GI GU muscles and sphincters. SANS predominantly acts on vascular tone and thermoregulatory sweat glands. (You have to know what the actions are on them.) They basically block the actual functions. So while they can cause hypotenion they aren't really used to treat hypertension. You know htn can be caused for a variety of reasons. But ganglion blockers only block ans ganglionic actions and hence are not used therapeutically. The Kaplan books sites an example,Hexamethonium blocks the hypotension cause by phenylephrine blocking the alpha adrenoceptors, but cannot block a bradycardia caused by the direct activation of Ach by M receptors in the heart. Their other use is to differentiate a drung action, was it direct acting or due to an autonomic response.Again the ganglion blockers wont be able to block direct action drugs, but will block those which act via ans. I hope this helps.good luck with your prep.

Im feelinf very defeated.Lacking concentration.Lacking the confidence.Time slipping before me.Not many optioons.I am scared disappointed all at the same time.I want to achieve a lot by this weekend. I want to complete Imuuno..I know this has been draaging tooooo long. Complete reading Physio the bits and pieces left. COmplete Genetics and Molecular Biology (Biochem) Will be back tonight and let you know what I have been able to accomplish. I wish other readers/people preparing would come forward with their doubts, words of motivation and strentgh. Anyway I realise it is a battle I fight for myself.Didn't realise I would be this alone again.

Medocuk I am in the same boat as you right now if that helps. I wanted to finsih biochem in the next three days and haven't even started it yet. It takes me so long tos tart something. I haven't been able to concentrate for the last three days. It has been soo bad. I went and watched two movies in a row yesterday cause I wanted to forget about my failure to complete my goals. Also people around you can have a negative affect I think. I know it can be very very hard to concentrate and focus. SUCKS. I know it sucks buddy. But just think, if you don't do it, it won't happen. I am just writting in my journal right now to take all the doubt out. And then hopefully I will feel motivated. I have been soooooo lazy lately. No motivational quotes at the moment. Not a good day for me.
