A patient comes to your office complaining of hemoptosis for the last week. The physician orders an X ray, which indicates nodularities in the right lung fields. An excisional biopsy is done, and small-cell carcinoma is found. The patient is quickly placed on chemotherapeutic agents. Which of the following statements about mitosis and meiosis is true?

A. The G2 phase involves checking DNA for errors.

B. In the cell cycle, most cells spend the majority of time in mitosis.

C. Mitosis involves semiconservative replication, and DNA is typically circular.

D. Most epithelial cells remain in the G0 phase.

E. Reverse transcription plays a significant role in DNA replication.

D. Most epithelial cells remain in the G0 phase. :?:

A :?:

I go with A too, because the other choices seem to be wrong and G2 is the phase right after the S (replication) phase, so G2 is for proofreading and final correction before DNA enters into Mitosis

hmm...A does seem right.
as for the epithelial...are they are classified as labile cell along with bone marrow cells or are they stable cells?
what phase of the cell cycle do labile cells stay in? G1?

Answer is A. The G2 phase involves checking DNA for errors.
