hi everybody...i have been in this forum for last 2 weeks..i really loved reading reviews by our colleagues!!!...they were very informative and inspiring too!.. myself..i m an indian a 4th year med.student...studyin in Russian medium in Russia..like..juz finished wid basic sciences for last 3 years and hving cilnical medicine for next 3 years... i wish to take step2 ck..first...but i m very much confused and wud be happy if you guys around here can give me piece of advice!! for the next 3 years during my clinical studies in Russia..i would be pretty away from all the standard buks referred internationally,...especially for usmle..they prefer their own russian material..but since the russian medicine is nt advance..dont really get the best of teachin and over and above..clearing exams here is nt a big deal..i hope u ppl understand. among midst of all this...how do i aspire to clear usmle..itz great deal even having aim for clearing such high class exams amongst such damp n dull atmosphere of reading!.. ...its almost impossible for me..to go through all the standard buks..like love n belly..dutta n davidson..single handed...n to read it dammn all.! ...what i could conclude regarding preparing smart for the exam..was.. hw if i get the usmle kaplan lecture notes...and get to understand it..if i miss something..i can open the bulky buks..n get the rest...? coz..anyways..nt definitely each and every line of these bulky buks r so important!! so can you please tell me...if,...during the span of these 3 years..if i want to clear the 2CK....how should i go??what shud be my modus operandi??? please suggest me i got lot of time...studies here r nt burden ...n as i said..clearin exams...n keeping up to date wid academy is nt a big deal..i can find plenty of free time..for usmle-oriented study! .. i heard even..lecture kaplan dvds r helpful? like..therez hell of lot of stuff on internet... i got time...but i have not principally read any 2CK subject in the college yet!.. there is also not much point in waiting..to get the degree first..coz..following exclusive russian style of teachig is far from gettin gud score in usmle..so the sooner i learn the better /// i know..this wud be a very differnt case for u ppl..coz..hardly u wud be finding somebody asking..how abt if i straight start learning kaplan lecture notes..but this is the core reality..i realy wont get any gud teaching abt the 2ck subjects in my college here... i really want to be out of this stigma...russian medical education.. really need to do it in USMLE... i know itz hard..but not impossible. please..guys..help me..suggest me.. how should i proceed. i really wud be thankful to you alll regards...n best wishes to u all guys thanks.!

my advice with u would b to go to kaplanmedical.com, they have an expert who gives advice free of charge.she would b ur best bet.Just explain to her what ur plans are.she is always willing to help.

Which college / city in Russia are you studying !
I think you are seriously underestimating the quality of medical education in Russia and the amount of knowledge /potential you can get/have if you start studying now.
Please know that there is a very strong network of Russian Doctors practising in US...many HOD's are infact Russian medical graduates.

hello mac7, I am sorry i keep missing ur IM, i am usually loged in but sometimes not in front of the computer,i keep changing my study places, so i am most of the time not in front the pc.
i am sorry about that.
so how is ur prep coming along?are uapplying for 2008 match?
