A news reporter traveled to an area where chloroquine-resistant Plasmodium falcipartum was prevalent. Before leaving on her trip, she took a drug for prophylaxis against malaria. Nevertheless, she experienced an attack of malaria caused by P. ovale. Which drug do you suspect that she took for prophylaxis? A. Chloroquine B. Iodoquinol C. Mefloquine D. Pentamidine E. Primaquine F. Pyrimethamine

Mefloquine is used as a phophylaxis, but I'm thinking it has similar properties to that of chloroquine because the reporter still eneded up with a malaria infection even after the prophylaxis. Primaquine- most effective in relapses of malaria Pentamidine-used mainly for Pneumocystic carnii pneumonia Iodoquinol-used mainly for amoebid infection Pyrimethamine-used mainly for toxoplasma but it can be also given to prevent malaria, right, :?: The better answer is Mefloquine, but can Pyrimethamine be also used in prophylaxis in this case :?:
