4 yr African American male developed fever, sore throat, unusual irritability. A PE(physical exam) revealed 15-25 small, gray white, shallow, ulcerative lesions along the posterior marign of his soft palate. The pharyngeal walls were extremely red. There were no lesions on the gum but few on the anterior part of oral cavity. The child was dark complexioned and had no obvious rash

I) Most likely diagnosis
a) herpetic gingivostomatitis
b) measles
c) chickenpox
d) herpangina
e) hand, foot, and mouth disease

II) Causative viral agent is most likely
a) Herpes simplex virus

Lesions on the soft palate is Koplik spots...
Rubeola
Measles
i can not remember all...
i have to check out,review...

well u got all the answers, the only one missing is the name of the virus causing measles: paramyxovirus

do koplik spots have an ulcerative look.....i thought they were seen on the 2nd molar.....but here it mentions right near the soft palate.....any opinion guys?
