Hi everyone: I have the following question: I have only one interview this year for an anesthesiology position. The program offers 4-year categorical positions starting 2007 and 3-year advanced positions starting 2008. I have applied to both types of training through ERAS. I have already found a transitional year program starting 2007, that offered me a position outside the match. I told them I accept their offer. The interview for the anesthesiology position is next week. I am not sure if this is a good time to tell them that I am now only interested in their three year advanced training, because I want to do my first year elsewhere. What do you think? How would this affect my chances to get a three year position? The reason why I want to commit to the transitional year elsewhere is because I don’t think I have much of a chance to get into anesthesiology with only one interview and this way I would have at least a transitional year. Thank you for your thoughts in advance.

Did the interview specifiy which position you will be interviewing for. If you actually applied to 2 different tracks of training through eras, don't they specify which one you will be interviewing for?

no, they don't really specify what track of training I will be interviewing.

it should not be a problem, the fact that u already have a prematch for a transitional year strengthens u as there choice for the 3 year program. PLUS competiton is always higherfor 4 year program.

rg x 2 ???? well, the reason why I got this TY position outside the match is because i matched for it last year and could not make it due to visa problems, and they were so nice to offer to sign me up for 2007 instead. so as far as i understand from the posts so far I should really tell them about this and that i will just rank their three year track. this might have a positive affect, correct? greetings to everybody
