1) How would you respond if a resident or colleague wanted to keep a therapeutic error a secret from a patient and his family 2) What recent newsworthy medical event or announcement would you like to discuss? 3) What is managed care? HMOs? PPOs? Capitation? 4) What will you do as a physician to curb the rising cost of medicine? 5) What problems will our specialty (general surgery) face over the next ten years?

Ans for 1 : Talk to the resident to tell the patient, if he refuses inform hospital ethics committee. Ans for 2: Rising insurance premiums pushing health care from reach of poor. http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2004-03-16-he... Ans for 4: Cut down on un necessary investigations, discuss with insurance lobby on reducing rates ! Ans for 5: Increasing sue rates, decreasing compensations, increasing insurance and competition from sub specialities
