I was reading a post about this 2 hospitals, and I already interviewed in both of them, but I still have problems deciding wich one to rank first. I really liked the CHOM, the hospital is amazing as well as the didactic schedule, the two big problems were 1. THE CITY, and 2. the problems between the DMC and the WSU (but that was solved in the past days). The Miami Childrens is a nice hospital, nice facilities and beautiful location, THE CITY IS AMAZING but I noticed they didnt have too many didactic time and some possibilities the CHOM offered (away rotations, international experience). Also, if you see the number of fellowships positions available in each hospital, the Miami Childrens only have 3 fellowships, while the CHOM has like 8 (including cardiology, wich I really liked). I read that some posted that the Miami Childrens used to be between the best 50 childrens hospitals in USA, but I couldnt find that information. The CHOM, however, has posted in their website that they were between the best 50 childrens hospitals in 2005 i think. In both hospitals the residents seem happy. In the Miami Childens 90% are IMGs (especially latin americans, as me) and in the CHOM like 50%. In the Miami Childrens i know i will be talking in spanish for a good part of the 3 years, and in the CHOM i will be practicing my english. Again the problems are the city of Detroit and the WSU-DMC problem, which may have resolved but is still important. So maybe you can help me decide. Thak you for your help. God luck to everyone.

I think Miami Children's has got a better reputation and a lighter work load but it is your decision. I will be interviewing in both these hospitals in January. Can you share your interview experience with us?? how were the faculty?? did they give you hard time?? When scheduling with CHOM they asked me to decide which subspecialty team I would like to interview with!! did you have the same experience?? what did that mean?? many thanks in advance and good luck on your decision. Please let me know which one you decided to go for....

Hi usdream, thank you for your reply, actually in both places thety are really nice, no medical questions, just the usual ones. In Miami Childrens they will ask you how many interviews you have and they will write ALL OF THEM. Residents are happy in both, they both give you a hotel and a dinner before the interview. In CHOM they will make you interview with a specialist in the area you like, so you can ask him question about it and he can guide you ith some things about the fellowship. Hope this help, good luck.
