Get up Everybodys gonna move their feet Get down Everybodys gonna leave their seat You gotta lose your mind in detroit rock city WSU-DMC reach $76 million deal The Detroit News The Wayne State University School of Medicine and the Detroit Medical Center have reached a 3 1/2-year, $76 million deal that continues their joint medical residency program. The agreement, announced today, also calls for up to $8.8 million in additional performance bonuses for WSU faculty physicians who work at DMC and DMC administrators who meet specific goals. The majority of WSU and DMC residency programs will remain jointly run, but both institutions will be allowed sole ownership of some programs that both sides have agreed would not hurt the overall relationship. Gov. Jennifer Granholm and DMC and WSU representatives called the news conference to announce the agreement. The nation's largest medical school and the eight-hospital system had been entrenched in a years-long battle over terms of the contracts that bind them as a medical school and teaching hospital. At issue were contracts that outline the financial and organizational arrangements for 68 residency programs. DMC and Wayne State were operating under four-year contracts -- worth $80 million a year -- that expired in March 2005 but have been extended until Dec. 31. The residency programs serve as a training ground for WSU doctors and provide care for DMC patients. Those patients make up a large portion of the state's Medicaid population and Wayne County's 700,000 uninsured and underinsured. The dispute drew the attention of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, the body that accredits graduate medical education programs. A council representative came to town Nov. 14 to make sure the WSU-DMC residency program is meeting its educational mission. That visit came less than a week after the institutions began negotiating with mediator David Fink, a former member of Granholm's cabinet. now only if henry ford and will beaumont were to wake up from their slumber and review my application in any light (positive / negative) detroit rock city lyrics courtesy of kiss apurva

thanx lifl.. but its a good thing as otherwise the spillover effect wud have been catastrophic in all specialities. u cannot compete with a wayne 1 yr usce img. he was a champion last yr also. that combined with the influx of mrcp wud have made life very difficult for fresh grads.. and the medical care in detroit wud have disintegrated. however this yr henry ford and will beau will bcome a lot more competitive as the mich grads who have base in detroit will prefer a more stable program. and im happy as now i have a chance to join a couple of my seniors who have not been inspiring - but everythin to me.. apurva
