I dont understand why Thiazides and Loop Diuretics can have hyperuricemia as their S/E? Is there sum connection with da fact that both are sulfa type drugs?

Loop diuretics and Thiazides are SECRETED into the PCT by Organic acid transporters.Uric acid is also secreted through the same transporter. So there is competive inhibition and retention of Uric acid .

Other organic acids which have same effect are
  1. Ketoacids
  2. Lactic acid
  3. Low dosages of Acetylsalicylic acid

Best of luck
